Well if someone had told me the winner had to write an article I’d never have thought I could, but here goes…

With the fog on the drive over it looked like it would be a real pea souper in places, today looked like it could be a challenge just seeing the last gate from gate 12, however, as the day wore on it got better, even the sun made an appearance albeit only for a short time.

Haile, one and a half hours drive from home made it an early start for some of us but we got there on time for a change, seven competitors were primed and ready to set off bang on ten. The course was compact and we did eleven stages in all, the mud gave us a different challenge to the sand and stone we endured at Plumpton. And where the devil was HM?

I can’t remember a damned thing about the individual stages but they got progressively harder as the day went on.

Places that tested us were frequent and often with sharp corners and steep inclines and more than one of us almost ended up on two wheels or worse. Well done to John and co. for setting out such a exigent trial.

Only one lady driver at this event, Fiona - driving Haf’s car, managed to complete one stage where all others had failed, well done!

Haf seemed to have a lot of fun coming in in third place, with Mel sitting shotgun. Davey Tarn had another good day and got second place and I had an incident free day, and seemed to get less points than anyone else and ended up writing this had I known I would have clipped a couple more canes.

AND as for Chris, Caroline is still counting his points up as we speak, but to be fair he was running in his new orange springs.

If you want a good day out and you don’t mind a bit of mud then we had a good day even if I had to fish her wellie out of the deepest muddy puddle to be found on the course! Who says chivalry is dead? If you believe I wrote this…

And a big thanks to the Marshalls who did a sterling job but who I still think judged Steve far too harshly.

Exigent? What the f***?
