Renwick RTV

It’s surprising how good the weather can be, right up until it comes time to set out on a Saturday. It had been lovely all week, then it started raining Friday and that was that just about all weekend. The weather was horrendous Saturday morning I didn’t think so much water could fall so quickly. Anyway it didn’t stop a few hardy souls from helping to set out. We got six sections set on the Saturday, which was excellent giving the weather conditions. I must have tipped out at least a gallon of water out of each wellie by the time we got done, I think my coat is still dripping water all over the garage.

Sunday it’s an early start getting up to Renwick first so I could put out direction arrows and start organising for a day’s fun. What a great turn out, 21 drivers coming to play. After a quick safety briefing the 1st section started and all ran like clockwork, it was like that for the rest of the day, all the drivers ready at the 12 gate there was no need to keep shouting all day trying to keep things moving, it was really good to see you all enjoying yourselves.

We stopped for some lunch after 4 sections had been driven I had to have a lunch break or worr lass was threatening to remove some body parts if I didn’t, you all know what she’s like if she is hungry!!!

After lunch we moved to one of the gully’s which had a section running down the centre, well with all the rain and after about 5 vehicles had been through Geoff drove down in Hiltons landrover and promptly put it on its side (I think it’s a Hilton’s landrover thing, it just loves leaning on its side and didn’t want to disappoint just cause Hilton wasn’t driving).

The water had washed a big step half way down the gully and with the vehicle driving so well it soon became unsafe so I stopped the section on safety grounds. Yes I’m turning into a big wouss, a big girly or anything else you want to call me. For the next trial I’ll have long hair, a handbag and 40DD’s so as not to disappoint anyone.

We would have had 8 sections on the day if I didn’t stop one of them, but 7 ½ sections, 21 vehicles and atrocious weather towards the end of the day I think we did rather well.

One thing I would like to do is thank all of you who phone t let me know that you were coming on Sunday, it really does may my life a lot easier setting out, and also a big thank you to all the people who marshalled on Sunday you all make my job as clerk of the course easy, thanks very much you all.
